RECENT MESSAGES FROM OLD ENFIELD RAVERS

THIS JUST IN FROM SPIKE (DRUMMER) GARRET (14 January 2013)

I Have just found the notes and pictures from John Bennett and was delighted to see one ear and a bass drum belonging to me in one picture - 'Spike" - just discernible on bass drum between Les Buddle and Stu’.

Also picture to left, below shows Tony Peters' wife Jean dancing at bottom right.  I don't think it's Tony with her though.  I remember John, Paddy and Colin getting together with us at times, in fact, Colin took over from Stu’ at the Jolly Farmers when he was called up for National Service.

I seem to remember Colin having a rather swish two-tone Hillman Minx but maybe that was a family car. Paddy and I were schoolmates at the Enfield Grammar School and also crossed paths in the RAF; he tried to get me into a station marching band when we were both stationed at Hereford but I couldn't manage to play the snare and march at the same time.

Great to see the web site expanding - it's also put me in touch with Eric Jackson again after many years.

Following is a list of musicians I remember from way back. It may bring back a few memories to you too. Regards to John if you're in touch with him again.

Spike.
