Tuesday, 15th July, it’s the Gambit Jazz Band

Gambit Jazzmen are always good value for money and their last trip to The Bay gave ample proof of that.

An interesting feature that time was that the whole session was on an acoustic basis without a microphone in sight, which was a bit of a novelty. The sound was absolutely terrific and fortunately for us all, Pete Lay's lifetime of shouting at his beloved Gillingham footballers meant that we could all easily hear his announcements(!).

As usual, he was a mine of information regarding each number as to who wrote what and when and what the weather was like on the day.

The usual line-up is Alan Gresty (cornet), John Maddocks (clarinet/alto sax), Iain McAulay (trombone), Andy Maynard (banjo/guitar), John Arthy (string bass/tuba) and Pete Lay (drums).
