The San Jacinto Stompers
The band play jazz in the Revival-Style, made popular via recordings made from the early 1940s onward, by such artists as Bunk Johnson, George Lewis and Kid Howard, These musicians were recorded in many locations around the city and sometimes in their own homes. One of the most popular and prolific venues used for recording was "San Jacinto Hall", from which the band takes its name.
The line up, at the moment, is
- Kevin Scott. Leader/Tenor Banjo
- Richard Church. Trumpet
- John Sirett. Double Bass
- Ron Rumbol. Reeds
- Ray Bowden. Drums
- Simon Wyld. Trombone.
Very popular when they last played for us, this promises to be a good afternoon’s jazz.
